Off to see the Wizard ...

The Young Performers edition of "The Wizard of Oz" will be at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday at the Phoenix Theatre, 1406 N. Market St., Monticello, presented by The Monticello Theatre Association.

'The Red Scarf'

"The Red Scarf," written by area student Ariana Mizan and directed by area resident Jennifer Heaton is among the films to be shown during the 6 p.m. Saturday screening of the Pens to Lens Festival at The Virginia Theatre.

Dropping ping-pong balls

Children will gather under a ladder truck at 6:15 p.m. today at the Georgetown Fair to catch falling ping-pong balls. Many of the balls will be marked for prizes.

Irish eyes

Hear The Shanties sing up-tempo Irish melodies and watch dancers from The Shamrock Academy of Irish Dance kick up their heels at Allerton's Irish Fest starting at 5:30 p.m. today at The Meadow at 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello.

Howl at the moon

Howl At The Moon ultramarathon participants will try to run or walk for 8 hours beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, starting from the Big Red Barn at Kennekuk Cove County Park, 22296-A Henning Road, Danville; prizes for most miles completed.

Running for a good cause

Honor the life of the late Raley Kirby and raise money to find a cure for mitochondrial disease at the 11th annual Run4Raley 5K run, 1-mile walk and kids quarter-mile Mito Dash at 6 p.m. today in downtown Philo.

See you at C-U Days

At 11 a.m. Saturday, gospel music with Andre Crittenden, B.J. McKenzie and La Jason Parker kicks off the Champaign Park District's Champaign-Urbana Days at Douglass Park.

Still despicable

See "Despicable Me 3" at sunset tonight on the courthouse lawn in Monticello as part of the Courthouse Rocks festival.

Cheeseburgers in paradise

On Saturday, the Bunker Hill Historic Area at Kennekuk County Park is hosting Cheeseburgers and Fun, a festival featuring cheeseburgers, vintage cars, tractors, live bands and vintage baseball.

In Hogg heaven

Boss Hogg and The Rambling Troubadours perform country hits from the 1990s and beyond at the free Summer Sounds Concert from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Temple Plaza in downtown Danville.
