10 new troopers slated for District 10

PESOTUM — Illinois State Police District 10 Pesotum will reap the benefits of 12 percent of the most recent graduating class of troopers.

A new cadet class of 81 troopers is slated to begin work all over Illinois today after graduating at ceremonies in Springfield on Friday.

District 10, made up of nine counties in East Central Illinois, is slated to get 10 new troopers.

The troopers completed 26 weeks of physical and classroom training in such topics as cultural diversity, procedural justice, domestic violence, critical incident response, firearms and traffic, criminal, juvenile and motor carrier safety law.

The probationary troopers will spend the next 14 weeks in field training with an assigned officer before they are allowed to patrol alone.
