FBI, state police investigating Vermilion County assistant state's attorney

DANVILLE — The FBI and Illinois State Police are investigating a Vermilion County assistant state's attorney.

State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said the employee has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, pending further investigation, and that her office is fully cooperating with investigators.

"No person is above the law, including any employee of the Vermilion County state's attorney's office," she said in a news release.

Lacy did not identify the assistant prosecutor.

To ensure the integrity of prosecutions, she said, all cases that the employee was involved in will be reviewed to ensure all proper procedures and laws were followed.

Lacy said the state police informed her Monday of its investigation into the employee's actions. Upon further investigation, she contacted the U.S. attorney's office to notify them of the information that was discovered.

FBI officials declined to comment.
