Muslim American Society plans presentation on Islamic beliefs, practices

CHAMPAIGN — The Muslim American Society of Urbana Champaign is planning an event to help area residents better understand the major beliefs and practices of Islam.

"Know Your Muslim Neighbor: Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of Abraham" will be presented from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Robeson Pavilion Room of the Champaign Public Library, 200 W. Green St.

Dr. Michael Dann, assistant professor of Islamic Studies in the University of Illinois Department of Religion, will present a talk and discussion.

A poster exhibit, crafts, poetry and food are also planned.
