The purpose of CAROL VOREL's one-of-its-kind podcast/print series — "Cold Cases" — is to shed light on unsolved area crimes.

So the longtime News-Gazette Media reporter was satisfied to learn that an arrest had been made in the murder of GUS EDWARDS, a cold case Vorel dissected in June.

Vorel's fourth "Cold Cases" episode runs in Sunday's News-Gazette and at In it, she revists the 2008 murders of MARK PRASSE and RYAN RIDDELL in Edgar County.

Vorel, who coordinates our Crime Stoppers coverage at the website, will touch on the investigation during an appearance on Friday's "Penny For Your Thoughts" on WDWS 1400-AM.
