LANCO aka Lancaster and Co., an American country music band, is the featured attraction at tonight's Summer Bash, Andrae's Harley-Davidson's fundraiser for MDA. Park at the Champaign County Fairgrounds for a free bus ride to and from Andrae's.

Nuts about Chesnutt

Mark Chesnutt first topped the charts with an Aerosmith cover. See him at 9:30 p.m. today at the Mahomet Music Festival in downtown Mahomet.

'Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do.'

See the University of Illinois' very own HAL 9000 computer in the 50th anniversary presentation of "2001: A Space Odyssey" at 7 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at The Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign.

Corny, but true

Around 20,000 ears of sweet corn are consumed each year at the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival. Get yours today or Saturday in downtown Urbana. Check out the corn-eating contest for adults at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and for kids at 2:30 p.m..

Helping those in need

Check out Amish furniture, handmade quilts, auctions and a petting zoo at the Arthur Mennonite Relief Sale starting at 4:30 p.m. today and 6 a.m. Saturday at the Otto Center in Arthur. The Mennonite Central Committee uses proceeds to help those in need.

A dog show in Danville

See the dog show at 1 p.m. and shelter dogs on stage at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Vermilion County Animal Shelter's fourth annual Showtime at the Shelter at 14775 Catlin Tilton Road, Danville. Funds raised help cover animals' medical expenses.

Up in the sky

Check out the Central Illinois Aerospace Model Rocket Club's model-rocket launch from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Dodds Park in Champaign.

Booking it in Urbana

Friends of The Urbana Free Library is holding its summer book sale this weekend at the library's Lewis Auditorium. The sale runs 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Blues from Urbana

Urbana resident Jose Gobbo is bringing his guitar and his band to the Champaign Public Library, 200 W. Green St., at 2 p.m. Sunday to perform soulful blues.

Saving the best for last

The Dalton Halls Band, known for fresh and funky soul music, closes out the Summer Sounds Concert Series at Temple Plaza, at the corner of North Vermilion and North streets, Danville, from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
