Westville man gets 16 years for recording child getting undressed

DANVILLE — A Westville man who admitted secretly recording an underage person getting undressed in the bathroom of a home is headed to prison for 16 years for child pornography.

Joshua W. Sentelle, 44, pleaded guilty to the Class X felony offense Wednesday. He will also be required to serve parole once released and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

According to Vermilion County State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy, Sentelle admitted that in June 2017, he hid a camera in the bathroom of a home to create the secret recording, capturing nude images of the minor and storing them on a cellphone.

The crime came to light when Sentelle left the phone unattended and a third person saw the images and immediately notified authorities.

The case was investigated by the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department and Westville police and prosecuted by First Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Weber.
