It is the Olympics of cheese eating!

Top cheese eaters from around the USA will be competing in the National Cheese Eating Championships at 1 p.m. Saturday in the main cheese tent at the Arthur Amish Country Cheese Festival.

Let's try it one more time

After previous Streetfests got rained out, the Champaign Park District is back with a new Streetfest downtown on Saturday. See Kayla Brown at 7 p.m., Craig Russo at 8:45 p.m. and Midnight Mojo at 10:30 p.m.

Burstin' bubbles in Hoopeston

Check out the bubble gum blowing contest at 1:30 p.m. and the ponytail contest at 2 p.m. Sunday at the National Sweetcorn Festival in Hoopeston.

Wrestling at the opera house

UWC Online Champion Jimmy Karryt will face former champion Sam Knight in the featured battle in the United Wrestling Coalition pro wrestling show at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Homer Opera House, 101 N. Main St., Homer.

More than playing scales

If you ever wanted to see a dueling pianos show head, to Westville's Zamberletti Park at 7 p.m. Saturday, part of the Westville Labor Day Celebration. And say hi to 2018 Queen Jaylie Wills.

Spotlight on DeLand

Downtown DeLand is the place to be Saturday for a car show, vendors, food and truck and tractor pulls at the annual DeLand Celebration.

And they will play football, too!

Check out the tailgating between 8 and 11 a.m. Saturday at Grange Grove outside Memorial Stadium prior to the Illini season opener against Kent State. There will be interactive games, food trucks and live music.

And the winner is...

The Hoopeston Civic Center will be abuzz at 6:30 p.m. Sunday as Miss Illinois Angelica Niemann and women from 22 other states compete in the finals of the National Sweetheart Pageant.

You can't beat the price

One dollar is the cost to join the hayride at 7 p.m. Saturday at Forest Glen Preserve east of Westville. Meet at the staff office parking lot.

Spit till you drop!

Top off your weekend by enjoying the sixth annual World Championship Cheese Curd Spitting Contest at 11:30 a.m. Labor Day at the corner of Vine and Illinois in Arthur.
