Today is Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. Here are local news reports from 100, 50 and 15 years ago:

In 1918, the Illinois Central Railroad announced it was moving its division headquarters from Chicago to Champaign.

In 1968, 268 persons, mostly black University of Illinois students, were arrested by about 100 police officers in a protest at the Illini Union during which furniture and fixtures in two lounges were damage or destroyed.

In 2003, the Rantoul Village Board voted to approve a 2 percent hike in water rates for each of the next three years.
