Danville police looking into weekend shooting that injured teen boy

DANVILLE — Police are investigating a weekend shooting that sent a 14-year-old boy to the hospital.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said the shooting occurred late Saturday night in the area of Griffin and Fairchild streets.

According to a report, the victim told police he was walking on Griffin Street when he was shot. He said he saw two people running from the scene toward the northeast.

Thomason said the victim was taken to an Urbana hospital, where he underwent surgery. His condition wasn't known as of Monday morning.
