Today is Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018. Here are local news reports from 100, 50 and 15 years ago:

In 1918, Urbana brothers Paul R. Hobart and Ralph R. Hobart met in France after landing in the country with different divisions of the U.S. Army.

In 1968, Vernon Barkstall, executive director of the Urban League, said counseling would be available for the 268 students arrested at the Illini Union.

In 2003, 16 attorneys have applied to become Champaign County's newest associate judge. The list included two local attorneys who were already running for a vacant judgeship, three current Champaign County assistant state's attorneys and the county's public defender.
