Litchfield man charged in alleged machete attack at Champaign house

CHAMPAIGN — A Litchfield man is facing charges for allegedly wounding a man with a machete at a house in Champaign.

Andrew Paul Dowell, 38, was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery. His bond was set at $75,000; he is due back in court Oct. 2.

According to a police report, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dowell allegedly pushed a 43-year-old Champaign man onto a bed in the victim's home in the 200 block of Charles Street and brandished a machete, which he used to inflict what police called minor wounds.
