Danville man arrested in connection with weekend fatal shooting

DANVILLE — U.S. Marshals arrested a 34-year-old Danville man Tuesday in Colorado in connection with the fatal shooting of another Danville man Saturday.

Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said the Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office obtained a warrant Tuesday for the arrest of Yuri D. Lillard on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful use of weapons by a felon in the death of Tyrell Henderson, 29. Lillard’s bond has been set at $7 million.

Thomason said after the warrant was issued, U.S. Marshals were informed, and Lillard was arrested without incident at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in Colorado Springs, Colo. The investigation is continuing, he said, but at this time, no one else is being sought in Mr. Henderson's murder.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, Danville police were called to the 2300 block of Cannon Street for reports of shots fired. They found Mr. Henderson, 29, lying at the edge of the street, said Thomason, who added that their initial information indicated that several people were gathered in front of a house when shots were fired. Police have released no other information about the crime.

Lillard has multiple previous felony convictions and is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections, having been released in March after serving a little more than two years of a five-year sentence for a January 2016 conviction of reckless discharge of a firearm, according to Vermilion County Circuit Court documents.
