In 1918, the Great Lakes Concert Quintet gave a concert at the University of Illinois Auditorium as a fundraiser for the Navy Relief Society.

In 1968, two downtown Urbana corporations, Broadway Development Co. and Main Street Development Co., voted to consolidate. Paul Luedtke was named president of the board.

In 2003, country singer Kenny Rogers announced he would perform Nov. 21 at the Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign.
