Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores opened Thursday in Oakwood, giving big rigs — and travelers — yet another option at the popular exit to the west of Danville.

The 15,000-square-foot Love's is located off Exit 206 on the north side of Interstate 74.

It includes a Hardee's restaurant, 67 truck parking spaces, seven diesel bays and seven showers, among other amenities.

The company will hold a ribbon cutting Dec. 18, where it will also donate $2,000 to the village of Oakwood.

The Love's will employ about 70 people, the company said.

Village President Clayton Woodard said in the statement that he's pleased that Love's opened and invested in his community.

"We look forward to a longstanding relationship with Love's for many years to come," he said.

The Love's joins the Pilot Travel Center, Phillips 66, Pitstop Bar & Grill, Dollar General and McDonald's just south of the highway.

Love's founder Tom Love said customers have been asking for more locations in Illinois.

The Oklahoma City-headquartered company now has more than 470 locations in 41 states.

Meanwhile in Tuscola ...

According to a redevelopment agreement approved by the Tuscola City Council, 3-D Development of La Grange, Ky., has an option to purchase 50 acres near the I-57/U.S. 36 interchange and has a commitment from Oklahoma City-based Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores to open a travel shop on about 12 of those acres east of the Road Ranger.

Tuscola Chamber and Economic Development Director Brian Moody said construction could begin in the spring of 2019.

“When a motorist currently comes off the southbound exit from Interstate 57, he or she will encounter a three-way intersection,” Moody said. “It will be converted to a four-way intersection, with an entrance on the north side of U.S. 36 leading to Love’s.”

Tuscola has a long history of hosting a truck stop.

Moody confirmed that there will be food service at the Love’s, but the specific restaurant hasn’t yet been announced.
