In 1918, men who had served in the Navy during the Great War held a dance at the Masonic Temple.

In 1968, Ernest Westfield, president of the Champaign County NAACP, announced he was running for alderman in Urbana.

In 2003, after nearly 15 years at Old Farm Shops in Champaign, Body n' Sole Sports, an athletic shoe and apparel shop, announced plans to move to a larger, free-standing building of its own in Savoy. Construction started on the 8,000-square-foot building on U.S. 45, near the corner of Curtis Road.
