Police: Woman seriously injured in shooting, suspect in custody

DANVILLE — A woman was injured and a man was arrested following a shooting Saturday night in Danville.

Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said officers were called to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of North Washington at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

"As officers responded, one officer was flagged down by a pedestrian in the 400 block of North Washington," Thomason said. "The man told the officer he was the person police were looking for."

Police found a 29-year-old Danville woman lying on the street with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

She was immediately taken from Danville to an Urbana hospital, where she was listed in critical condition on Sunday.

Police arrested a man, Bryant Marshall, 26, who listed an address in Danville, on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a firearm.

He remained in custody Sunday night.

Thomason said preliminary information indicated the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.
