In 1919, John Ellison, a man who had escaped from the Kankakee Hospital for the Insane, was taken into custody by Deputy Sheriff Horace Bierfeldt in Tuscola.

In 1969, the Illinois Heritae Center, which had been closed for the winter, announced it would reopen in April, according to President Ralph McInnes.

In 2004, teacher schooled student as Gene Keady won his first men's basketball meeting with Bruce Weber, snapping Illinois' 23-game homecourt winning streak in the process. The Boilermakers won, 58-54.
