Danville's second homicide of 2019 under investigation

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating their second murder of the year.

Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said a Danville man was fatally shot shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Edgewood.

"Callers indicated that there was some sort of disturbance in the area and when an officer arrived at one of the apartments, found the male victim," Thomason said. "Preliminary investigation indicates the 32-year-old man was the victim of gunshot wounds."

Thomason said a person of interest has been developed but that information is not being immediately released.

Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden identified the shooting victim as 32-year-old William L. Banks of Danville.  McFadden said that Mr. Bank’s family has been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

On Friday, police made an arrest in the city's first murder of 2019.

Henry Graham, 18, is in custody for the suspected strangulation of Tara Jackson, 29, of St. Joseph, who was found dead in a Danville motel on Jan. 3.
