Water main break leads to boil order in Urbana

URBANA — A boil order is in effect  for about 25 customers around the Leal Park neighborhood of Urbana today .

Crews have been making emergency repairs on a main break since 8 a.m..Customers should bring their water to a rolling boil for five minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. (This is not necessary for bathing and other common uses.).

Illinois EPA regulations require that any time water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community's distribution system, a boil order must be issued.

If you are a landlord, you are responsible for letting your tenants know about the impact to their water service.

— The Carle Addiction Recovery Center closed at 11 a.m. today due to the water main break.

Patients are being contacted to reschedule appointments and those seeking care immediately are being asked to call 911. The addiction recovery center is expected to reopen Monday with regular hours.
