Tilton woman admits stealing $120,000 from Danville assisted-living facility

URBANA — A Tilton woman is expected to be sentenced to six years in prison under a plea agreement in which she admitted stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from an assisted-living facility in Danville.

Annette Cruea, 51, pleaded guilty this month in Vermilion County Circuit Court to theft over $100,000. Judge Nancy Fahey is expected to make the sentence official on April 4.

Between now and then, officials will prepare a report on restitution. Court records did not say how much Cruea will have to pay back.

Danville police arrested Cruea in August 2017. Cmdr. Josh Webb said the former human-resources director at the Hawthorne Inn edited the timecards of former employees to make it appear they still worked there, then pocketed the pay to the tune of more than $120,000.

Court records show the thefts occurred in 2015.
