Ameren files for rate reduction that would lower average bill by $1 a month

COLLINSVILLE — Ameren Illinois customers stand to save just over a dollar a month on their power bills next year under the company's latest rate plan filed Thursday with the Illinois Commerce Commission.

The company said it has filed for its sixth reduction in electric-delivery rates — this time seeking an overall $7.22 million decrease.

If approved, the reduction would save the typical residential customer about $1.13 a month on electric-delivery rates, the company said.

Overall, the delivery-rate reduction combined with projected lower supply costs would make overall monthly customer bills lower in 2020 than they were in 2012 and below the 2018 national average, the utility said.
