Tonight, Champaign native Elizabeth "Amy" Treat fulfills a lifelong dream by performing at the fabled Lincoln Center in New York City.

A member of the University Glee Club of New York City, she is the soprano soloist in the Easter Hymn from Mascagni's opera "Cavalleria Rusticana."

"I am indeed nervous and thrilled for the opportunity," she said.

It has been a steady and impressive climb for Treat, who in high school turned heads at Central inside what today is — fittingly — called Decker Theatre.

"The senior class voted me 'Most Talented' no doubt in large part due to my participation in Don Decker's madrigal choir and staged musicals," she said. "He was an extraordinary human, truly gifted with the ability to inspire and include everyone, no matter their level of ability."

Treat was further inspired after attending — along with Mom — a dress rehearsal of "The Mikado" at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. "I was starstruck and hooked right from the overture," she said.

Tonight, Mom — Jane Treat Queller — will be in attendance at a sold-out Alice Tully Hall.

"I dreamed about being the soloist one day," said Treat, a director at Perella Weinberg Partners on Fifth Avenue. "Here we are."
