In 1919, the Piatt County Board agreed to spend $15,000 on building hard roads throughout the county.

In 1969, the new Rick's IGA Foodliner opened at 312 W. Kirby Ave., C. The previous Rick's IGA Foodliner, at 711 N. Neil St., had been destroyed by fire in July 1967.

In 2004, in a series of private meetings held in Chicago, Senate President Emil Jones spoke with University of Illinois officials and trustees about his request that Chief Illiniwek be retired, but nothing was decided.
