Urbana Free Library conducting survey, focus groups on future plans

URBANA — The Urbana Free Library is charting its future and is inviting the public to weigh in.

A survey asking patrons and others how they use the library and how satisfied they are with its various collections, programs and services is available online and at the library through May 27.

The library's previous strategic plan has expired, and the survey is intended to provide officials with public input for a new plan.

"We know that people in Urbana love their library, and this survey will help us understand how people are using the library and what they would like to see in the future," said Executive Director Celeste Choate.

The survey can be completed in English, Spanish or French at http://www.urbanafreelibrary.org/community-survey; print copies are available at the information desk on the first floor.

The public is also invited to register for a one-hour focus group to provide additional input.

Registration for the events, set for 7 p.m. May 28 or noon May 29, can be completed by going to http://events.urbanafreelibrary.org/events and clicking on the corresponding date on the calendar.

The library board intends to adopt a new strategic plan by the end of the year.
