In 1919, a celebration was held in St. Joseph for the safe return of Louis Pence, a hometown man, from the Great War. He has served in the 319th machine gun battalion, 87th division. He served overseas for seven months.

In 1969, the Rev. C.H. Willey, pastor of First Christian Church of Moline and chaplain of the Moline Fire Department, gave the keynote address for the 45th annual Illinois Fire College at the University of Illinois.

In 2004, teachers and other employees in the Danville school district received a 6 percent raise under a new contract approved by the Danville school board. The board unanimously approved the agreement at its meeting. It was ratified by the Danville Education Association earlier in the day.
