Durbin: more moderates needed to end shutdown, debt ceiling debates

Illinois' Senior Senator said he's hopeful that more lawmakers will break ranks and vote to end the partial government shutdown and also to raise the debt limit.

Democrat Dick Durbin pointed to his fellow Illinois lawmaker, Republican Senator Mark Kirk, who recently said he would vote to raise the debt ceiling.

Durbin said more of that type of attitude is needed.

Durbin added that House Speaker John Boehner is putting his reputation and political future ahead of the good of the country when it comes to a vote to end the partial shutdown.

Durbin made the comments Tuesday on the WDWS Morning Show.

Durbin is just slightly to the right of Marx. A fine one to call on moderates to bail Obama out.

The Senate has eight bills, that have already passed the House, that could be voted on at any time.  These would re-start the funding of the government.

But since Dick Durbin and Harry Reid do not want to do anything, those bills will not go anywhere.

But Dick apparently has plenty of time to blame this one everyone else.

Is it about time to retire, Dick?  Your first priority should be people of the State of Illinois... not the Democrat party.

President Obama: The USA does not negoiate with terrorists, period. That is all the House Republicans are, terrorists. Sign no bill that does not include the resignation of John Boehner and all Tea Party members.
