DECATUR — The second of two men involved in a Douglas County crime spree that left the county’s chief deputy dead in 2007 has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Macon County Judge Tim Steadman sentenced Yusef Brown, 26, of Chicago, to 30 years in prison for home invasion and 30 years for aggravated kidnapping.
URBANA — An Armstrong man has been charged with three felonies after his arrest early Friday for allegedly stealing anhydrous ammonia from a Royal fertilizer plant for use in the production of methamphetamine.
Matthew T. Talbott, 28, was arrested by Champaign County sheriff’s deputies and members of the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team about 12:55 a.m. at the Farmers AG Service, 301 N. Railroad St., Royal.

ARGENTA – Ice sculptor Aaric Kendall will be wearing Olympic gold around his neck when he returns home today.
Kendall and his teammate, Benjamin Rand of Jupiter, Fla., were awarded the gold medal Sunday in the ice sculpting competition at the Cultural Olympiad that is part of the Vancouver Games.
"I was a little shocked," Kendall said. "I thought it could have gone either direction."
Teams from Japan received the silver and bronze medals. Kendall and Rand earned a score of 177.9 out of a possible 200 to win the gold medal.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – About 350 people were responding well to medicine after getting sick on a cruise to the Caribbean that departed from South Carolina, the cruise line said Tuesday.
