SAVOY – Chris G. Tsevelekos, 70, of Savoy passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on April 6, 2007, at 8:03 a.m. There will be a visitation at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church (2010 Three Hierarchs Court) in Champaign on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 10 a.m. with Father George Pyle officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, with VFW Post #5520 performing military burial rites. Chris was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Champaign, a son of Greek immigrants, George and Argero Georgopoulos Tsevelekos. Both parents are deceased, as well as his step-father, Theodore Constan. Chris grew up in Decatur and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1959, earning a bachelor's degree in language arts (BSLA). He was in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962, where he was stationed in Germany as a field medical assistant and attained the rank of first lieutenant (1LT). He worked most of his adult life for RH Donnelly as an advertising salesman in Champaign. In his retired years, he lived in both Denver and Savoy. He was married to Ann Alisafakis for 17 years. Survivors include one son, George (Diane) Tsevelekos; two granddaughters, Amber and Megan, all of Mansfield; two brothers, George (Vickie) Constan of Escondido, Calif., and Van (Elizabeth) Constan of Denver; and two sisters, Angie (Henry) Mena of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Nancy (Demitrius) Stathopulos of Denver.
