CHAMPAIGN – William Lynne Denney, 63, of Champaign, died on Aug. 13, 2008, after a long battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Spokane, Wash., to Clifford Raymond and Mary Bell Denney. Shortly after his birth, he moved with his parents to Joseph, Ore., with his four other siblings. In 1963, he matriculated into his freshmen year of college at Oregon State University with numerous academic scholarships. Because of his exceptional undergraduate scholastic work in civil engineering, he was accepted into the master's in business administration program and again received full honors. Throughout his career in computers, he always strove to attain success in everything he tried. He always used his engineering and mathematical background in his hobbies as well. Just by reading books he was able to become a jeweler, a botanist specializing in orchids and a genealogist. He could even build houses from scratch if it was required for friends and family. Throughout his entire life he walked the word of God. He served in several different leadership roles in the church. Being that he loved to minister to others, his favorite position was acting as a deacon and teaching Sunday School classes. Surviving Bill are his wife, Arlys, his two daughters and five grandchildren. His oldest daughter is Lanae Clarke, with son-in-law Jerry and their three children, Madison, Coy and Reagan. The youngest daughter is Rachelle Denney, with her husband, JR, and their two children, Kayla and Trey.
