PAXTON – Otto J. Derra, 81, of Paxton, passed away in the morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.

Otto was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Blue Hill, Nebraska, a son of William John and Emma Frances (O'Neil) Derra. He married Clara Richardson on Feb. 17, 1957, in Gifford. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Gene Derra of Rantoul, Duane Derra of Paxton and Glen Derra of Paxton; two daughters, Glenda Brown of Urbana and Donna Shook of Pierson, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He served in the US Air Force for 30 years, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1968. He owned and operated Otto's Service in Paxton for several years. He spent his retired life with friends and family and enjoyed his CB radio and police scanner.
