Jones' tactics flatten democratic process
Illinois legislators are no stranger to high-handed tactics and sleazy double dealing. Still, Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, a Chicago Democrat, reinforced his chamber's image as a democratic backwater last week when he ordered party minions to ram through the nominations of three members of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
