Posting records reveals too much
While the posting of public court records on the Web is a great step forward in open government, some records shouldn't be plastered online. As reported by the Orange and Blue Observer and Part-Time Pundit, the Champaign County circuit clerk also publishes the names and addresses of rape victims online. If you know someone accused of rape, it clearly states the name and address of the victim in the record. Since this only appears to affect cases filed in 2006, this is a new change.
Linda Frank should immediately take steps to make sure this information is protected. Rape victims already have to go through the spectacle of a rape trial, they don't need to be held up for public gawking as well.
