Public smoking ban shouldn't be repealed

Saturday April 28, 2007

I would like to voice an opinion on the smoking ban now in effect in Champaign.

As a registered nurse, I implore the residents of Champaign-Urbana to consider their health and the health of those around them. Health information from the Centers for Disease Control reports that spending just a short period of time in a smoky room can cause blood vessel damage and contribute to other major health complications. When it comes to smoking in bars or restaurants, the people who choose not to smoke do not have a choice about inhaling secondhand smoke when those around them are allowed to smoke.
