Champaign council turning back clock
Given the mountain of scientific evidence presented in the U.S. surgeon general's 2006 report on the dangers of secondhand smoke, it's hard to believe that the Champaign City Council repealed its clean indoor air ordinance for bars and private clubs until Jan. 1.
Such a move is not only contrary to this and other reports, but it would put the health of thousands of Champaign workers and patrons at risk.
