Historic election for Illinois Green Party
A longtime resident of the west Urbana neighborhood, I'm running for Champaign County Board in District 8. As a member of the Prairie Green Party of East Central Illinois, I believe that our troubled democracy needs new independent leadership based on principles of nonviolence, social and environmental justice, and grass-roots democracy.
In 2006 the Illinois Green Party ran a shoestring campaign to elect Rich Whitney governor and earned over 325,000 votes. That same year I made a rookie bid for Champaign County Board in which I received over 25 percent of the vote against two Democratic incumbents. The message is loud and clear: voters don't just want candidates who talk about change – voters want change.
