'Five-star' care at county nursing home

Sunday May 11, 2008

I was saddened to hear that 27 employees at the Champaign County Nursing Home would be laid off.

I was in that nursing home for 28 days. Everyone there in every department was most courteous and professional, 24 hours a day.

Dietary needs of all patients were seen to three times a day with patients being offered choices of meals, or they prepared special meals for patients on special diets. The housekeeping department maintained an immaculate facility. The nursing staff was always available to assist with my care plans and report my progress to my doctor. The therapists were superb. My daily therapy was overwhelming to me but easily understood and explained, and directed by therapists who encouraged and educated me so I could realize my recovery plan.

I highly recommend the Champaign County Nursing Home to anyone needing nursing home services. In my book they are five-star.

I wish those being laid off best of luck in these hard times, and I hope those remaining will be able to provide patients with the excellent care I received.
