Rev. Pike's views should be considered

Sunday May 11, 2008

Ignorance is not bliss. I want to thank The News-Gazette and Rabbi Klein for the recent article about the dispute over programming on Urbana Public Television. The controversy concerns hate laws, anti-Semitism and the subject of the Middle East.

The rabbi is correct about public ignorance when it comes to Zionism and Christianity. Unfortunately, I do not receive the TV programming mentioned in the article, but I looked up "Ted Pike" on the internet (YouTube). Lo and behold, his tape was available for viewing there.

It certainly does bring up alternative views. It's been very disheartening over the years to only hear the hate and venom against Arabs coming from Pastor John Hagee and the late Rev. Jerry Falwell over the mass media without any rebuttal.

I disagree with a lot of Rev. Pike's conclusions. I also feel everyone should watch the video and discuss its observations. People should not be afraid of someone's point of view.

This subject matter should not be obscured or left for only fanatics or a minority of viewers to see. I found Rev. Pike also has an Internet sight at Truthtellers.org if you do not have high speed broadband Internet and want to look into his views.
