Polar bear issue requires wisdom
Our government will decide whether or not to declare the polar bear an endangered species.
The effect on polar bear populations will be nil, since traditional hunting by top-predator Eskimos will be unaffected. Rather the effect will be even further to impede all efforts to develop our northern petroleum resources – those already semi-permanently endangered by the environmental lobby. Worldwide, there are now over 20,000 hungry polar bears, up from some 16,000 in the 1960s. They will eat undocumented numbers of those cute Eskimo (and even cuter seal) babies, both non-endangered species. Shall the participants in this toothsome feast be issued special dining cards? The judgment of Solomon seems called for.
