Durbin energy stance is right on the money
Fred Welch, in a June 25 letter to the editor, accuses U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin of being anti-business and refusing to accept his responsibility to the people of Illinois. Welch defends profits of industry and states "He (Durbin) apparently deplores any business making a profit."
If I recall correctly, Durbin's complaint was about "excessive" profits of oil companies and he supported a windfall profits tax on oil companies, the proceeds from which could be used to reduce the burdens of rising energy costs and increase our energy independence and security.
