Urbana should not limit housing options
I'm glad that Urbana's newest councilman David Gehrig wants to rejuvenate his downtown.
Hopefully he'll be very supportive of the entrepreneurs and investors who actually create new businesses. Maybe he'll also have a word with Community Development Services Director Libby Tyler to explain that many of the future customers for the downtown would rather rent small, modern, energy-efficient apartments than large old houses, and that it's hard to attract new investment while zoning away the development plans of current owners.
