What was the point of leaving a note?

Well, happy birthday to me! As a birthday treat, I drove our little red PT Cruiser convertible to O'Charley's restaurant on a recent Saturday night.

After having a lovely meal with friends, I came out to find the following note on our car: "I'm so sorry my child opened the door and hit your car. I don't have any insurance or money to pay right now – please forgive me."
