Construction plans should be postponed

Thursday November 20, 2008

The building plans of the Champaign Unit 4 school district and Christie Clinic need to be put on hold. These providers of health care and education need to make do with what they have right now.

Why? There is a credit and debt crisis the likes that we have not witnessed before. This is no time to raise sales or property taxes for Unit 4 or increase medical fees that are already too high to pay for a new $35 million Christie medical campus. This is a time for restructuring, downsizing and maybe even pay cuts to save jobs.
