True change comes from helping others

As I sit here hoping my life doesn't change much in the near future, I am writing to issue a challenge to everyone who participated in the recent election.

I had typed an e-mail to a group of friends about the presidential election, and one of my friends responded by telling me I should focus more on the local elections. He explained the locals were more important because they could have a more profound effect on my life. This caused me to think true change cannot come from Washington, but only from inside oneself.
