U.S. auto industry must be saved
Ken Foley (Nov. 18 letter) argued against government support of the automobile industry. I disagree with his letter on many fronts.
Car companies respond to consumer demand; this demand, until recently, craved large vehicles. Foley mentions the outsourcing of jobs to Mexico, but then complains about a poor work ethic sometimes attributed to a unionized work force. The cars have to be made by someone somewhere; if Foley is not willing to accept "Made in USA" then he should not grumble about Mexico or Asia.
