Keillor's insults getting tiresome

Tuesday October 27, 2009

I am writing in response to a recent column by Garrison Keillor. His characterization of of conservatives as "carpet chewers, ragemeisters, gin-crazed crackers and jerks that are throwing mud just to see if it sticks" is uncalled for.

He indicates unions "used to know how to deal with hecklers" then has the nerve to say conservatives are obnoxious. If I were a union member, I would not be flattered by that comment. As a professional who runs a business, I have been among those speaking out about what has been blatant corruption from a government gone off the deep end.

The government has alienated our allies, held out a hand to our enemies, lowered our security, tripled our debt, waged a war on business that will lose jobs, passed legislation without understanding it and is now trying to shove a health care bill down our throats. Of course people are upset, and many of us believe no bills should be passed, especially health care until our representatives are no longer owned by special interest groups on both sides.

Our lawmakers have gotten arrogant, wasteful and have an elitist mentality. Of course, we don't trust them. Most no longer know what honesty or integrity means. The next time Keillor rants about a good portion of the American public, I hope he leaves his double standards at the door. Left-wingers are clearly as obnoxious as the right.
