People awfully quick to judge the police

Tuesday October 27, 2009

What would you do if you came upon a hooded figure trying to go through the window of your house or a house in your neighborhood? Would you ignore it? Would you approach them yourself unarmed not knowing if they had a weapon or if they were on drugs and crazy enough to hurt you? Or would you call the police?

What would you do if you forgot your keys and, while attempting to get in the window of your home, you were approached by policemen, guns drawn, and told to show your hands? Would you approach the policemen or would you comply?

What would you do if you were a police officer called to a burglary in progress knowing that not every burglary involves an armed suspect, but some do? Would you approach the scene unprepared with your gun in your holster and just hope and pray this isn't that one? Or would you prepare yourself for the worst and hope for the best?

What would you do if you were the police chief and a report came of a burglary in progress. Would you sit behind your desk or would you decide to help and, hopefully, keep a citizen's home safe?

What would you do if people were holding you accountable for your actions while others of all ages act irresponsibly?

How can people be so quick to judge when they haven't walked in another's shoes?
