Council positions on the smoking ban

As the Champaign City Council prepares to vote on a smoke-free ordinance, the CU Smokefree Alliance is reviewing the positions of council members on this vital public health issue.
First, we would like to thank those members who supported a comprehensive ordinance at the study session on Sept. 13, 2005. They include Giraldo Rosales, Tom Bruno, Marci Dodds and public health nurse Kathy Ennen. We look forward to their continued support. In addition, we anticipate the support of Gina Jackson, whose only objection at the time was concerned with the veterans' clubs in her district. Jackson still supports a comprehensive approach.
