Candidates sought to fill open Paxton parks seat
PAXTON — The Paxton Park District board is seeking candidates to replace board member Jeremy Putnam.
Putnam resigned at the Jan. 10 board meeting because he's moving from Paxton.
Board President Eric Evans said Putnam was a "very good asset to the park district" and "helped out a lot," specifically with the district's finances.
The board is looking for candidates to fill the remainder of Putnam's term, which expires in April 2013. Interested parties can contact the park district at 379-4203 or attend the next board meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Civic Center, 601 S. Fall St.
To be a board member, a person must live within the park district's territory, said park district attorney Bob Martensen. The territory includes all of Paxton, along with an area about a quarter-mile east of Stockholm Road that spans to the first township road north of town and just outside of town on the south and west sides.
