Agencies can use a helping hand for the summer

Here are some agencies that need volunteer help this summer:
- Center for Women in Transition, Champaign. Volunteers are needed to take care of children while moms attend classes on Monday and Tuesday mornings, and at other times. Contact: 352-7151.
- Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Urbana. Volunteers work as advocates in Champaign County court for children who have been abused and neglected. Volunteers must be age 21 or older. The next training session begins June 7. Contact: 384-9065.
- Salt and Light Ministries: Volunteers are needed to sort clothing donations and help with distributions on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Contact: 355-5654.
- TIMES Center, Champaign: Volunteers are needed to help with lunch and dinner service for homeless individuals. Contact: 398-7785.
- Community Service Center of Northern Champaign County, Rantoul: Volunteers are needed for the food pantry, which sees an influx of migrant workers in the summer; and for a summer youth program that operates at three different sites. Contact: Karen Kelly, 893-1530.
- Circle of Friends, Champaign: Volunteers are needed to interact with seniors in the adult day care program. Contact: 359-7937.
- Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club: Volunteers are needed to help with sports activities, arts and crafts, gardening projects and other children's activities. Contact: 352-4229.
- Champaign County Mental Health Center: Volunteers are needed for the Healthy Young Families Program, the Roundhouse teen shelter, and a Prevention program that needs mentors for at-risk children in the Rantoul area. Contact Benita Rollins-Gay at 373-2430, ext. 2190.
